The FlexiFleet is a compact 2G or 3G (NextG) GPS tracking device with a variety of inputs and outputs to cater for the most demanding applications, and a FlexiCard slot allowing for the most flexible expansion options in the industry – including Iridium satellite modem, WiFi and others.

With the internal GPS and cellular antennae installation is a breeze. The internal backup battery provides alerts and tracking operations even when external power is removed.

Concurrent GPS and GLONASS

The G100 supports position tracking using both the American GPS satellites and the Russian GLONASS system concurrently. This results in amazingly fast and accurate tracking with double the number of satellites available for use.

Iridium SBD

Global coverage – anywhere in the world.

The G100 can be fitted with an Iridium SBD module that allows it to communicate via the Iridium satellite network. The G100 will automatically switch over to using Iridium communications when out of range of the cellular networks.

WiFi

The G100 can be fitted with a WiFi FlexiCard – allowing it to communicate on a WiFi network.

3 axis accelerometer

iButton

Communicate with common one-wire iButton devices

RS232

RS232 receive and transmit allow the G100 to communicate with external RS232 devices. These can include fuel monitoring, Garmin FMI, tyre pressure monitoring

The RS232 interface can also be used to configure the device and to test and debug.

Switched 5V out

The G100 can provide power to external peripherals via this 5V power line, allowing for easy installation and doing away with the need for additional external power supplies.

DMCAN peripheral port

Digital Matter has a range of peripherals that connect to the G100 via the DMCAN peripheral port. Peripherals such as the RFID Driver ID reader, 5 digit keypad, data console and RF gateway use the DMCAN port.

Flash memory

The G100 has sufficient memory to store over 50,000 records in its flash memory. Normally the data will be sent to the server immediately but if the device is out of range then there is sufficient space to ensure that no data is lost – for many weeks of driving!

The flash memory is also used to store parameters, GPS aiding data, accident data, driver lists, geo-fences and other important information that needs to be securely stored.

Firmware Smarts

Auto-APN

Auto-APN allows the G100 to analyse the SIM card and select the correct APN details from a list that is pre-loaded in the device’s firmware. This means that the G100 can be shipped world-wide without requiring specialist setup for SIMs.

Text Message Setup

The G100 can also be sent text messages to setup the APN, server and other details

Multi-APN

The G100 can be configured to roam across multiple networks and to automatically use the different APN details for the roaming networks.

AssistNow Offline

The G100 will track successfully where other devices just give up.

This fantastic technology allows the GPS to predict which satellites are in orbit above it and to dramatically reduce the time-to-first-fix of the GPS, and the overall performance of the GPS, especially in ‘urban canyon’ or forested environments.

Flexible Logging Parameters

The G100 trip logging is flexible and can be configured to log based on a variety of parameters including:

  • Elapsed time
  • Distance travelled
  • Change in heading
  • Change in speed
  • On Stationary
  • Accelerometer events (harsh driving)

Accident and Rollover Detection

The G100 uses the built-in accelerometer to detect high G impacts such as accidents and rollovers and reports these events to the server for emergency alerting.

Harsh Driving

The G100 automatically calibrates its built-in 3 axis accelerometer and uses this to detect harsh driving events:

  • Excessive acceleration
  • Harsh braking
  • Cornering at speed

These events are logged in the G100 along with additional event statistics that allow back-end server platforms to perform sophisticated driver profiling and scoring.

Accident Data

The G100 keeps a second-by-second “blackbox” recording of valuable GPS and accelerometer data for a two hour window. This data can be automatically uploaded to the server when an accident is detected, or it can be requested manually.

Driver Identification

The G100 supports a number of ways to identify a driver:

  • RFID reader and a card or keyfob
  • 5 digit keypad to enter a PIN code
  • Console with built-in RFID reader
  • iButton 1-wire reader

Driver Lists

The G100 can be updated from the server with lists of Drivers that are allowed to drive the vehicle that it is installed in. When a driver or operator registers on the G100 it will check the Driver List to see if that person is authorised to drive the vehicle. The list also includes information about the driver such as whether they can perform supervisor functions.

The G100 can be installed to immobilise a vehicle and only allow authorised drivers / operators to drive it, or to annoy an unauthorised driver with a loud buzzer.

Geo-Fences

The G100 has the capacity to hold hundreds of geo-fences that can be downloaded to it from the server. The G100 can use this geo-fence information to:

  • Implement arrival and departure alerts
  • Implement speeding zones with audible warning alerts
  • Implement “No-go” and “Keep-out” areas
  • Automatically control outputs, for example to switch on warning lights when inside a special area
  • Warn drivers when approaching dangerous intersections
  • Disable data communications within intrinsically safe areas

 

Emulated Ignition

This setting allows the G100 to determine that a trip has started based on accelerometer and GPS data and to automatically set the ‘ignition’ input on the device to emulate the ignition line.

This means that the G100 can be installed with the option of not wiring in the ignition line and ‘emulating’ the ignition based on movement.

Run Detect

This setting allows the G100 to monitor the system voltage and to detect changes in the voltage that indicate if the engine is running or not.

Internal Antennae

Internal GPS and cellular antennae
Having the primary antennae inside the housing makes for simple and quick installation. The G100 has had its antennae tuned by a top laboratory to ensure optimal performance.

3 Axis Accelerometer

The 3 axis accelerometer allows the G52S to detect movement and impacts. It allows the G52S to go to ‘sleep’ when not moving, resulting in extremely low standby current.

Switched 5V Output

The G52S can provide power to external peripherals via this 5V power line, allowing sensors and peripheral devices to be powered.

DMCAN Peripheral Port

Digital Matter has the ability to connect a range of peripherals via the DMCAN peripheral port. Peripherals such as the AgriCAN expansion board can be used with the G52S.

Flash Memory

The G52S has sufficient memory to store over 25,000 records in its flash memory. Normally the data will be sent to the server immediately but if the device is out of range then there is sufficient space to ensure that no data is lost – for many weeks of recording.

The flash memory is also used to store parameters, GPS aiding data, firmware updates and other important information that needs to be securely stored.

SDI-12 interface

The 5V output and digital input can be used as an SDI-12 interface, allowing the use of a variety of sensors. Commonly used sensors include: soil moisture probes, flow meters, humidity sensors.

POWER MANAGEMENT

The G52S operates with power constraints. The operating configuration should not use more power than is available from the solar panel. Determining the optimal configuration is a combination of calculation and testing. The default behaviours give an idea of what is possible. In areas with more solar energy available, more aggressive configurations are possible.

All configurations are adjustable Over-The-Air using system parameters.

GPSLiVEtrack Solar Firmware Features

Agriculture or Tracking Firmware

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar has two distinct applications that require different firmware: Agricultural Telematics and GPS Tracking. The hardware is identical for both applications, and the firmware can be switched over the air. This following sections describe features of the firmware that apply to Agricultural Telematics, GPS Tracking, and both versions.

General Features

The following features are available in both Agricultural and GPS tracking firmware versions.

General Firmware Smarts

Auto-APN

Auto-APN allows the GPSLiVEtrack Solar to analyse the SIM card and select the correct APN details from a list that is pre-loaded in the device’s firmware. This means that the GPSLiVEtrack Solar can be shipped world-wide without requiring specialist setup for SIMs.

Text Message Setup

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar can also be sent text messages to setup the APN, server and other details

Multi-APN

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar can be configured to roam across multiple networks and to automatically use the different APN details for the roaming networks.

AssistNow Offline

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar will track successfully where other devices just give up.

This fantastic technology allows the GPS to predict which satellites are in orbit above it and to dramatically reduce the time-to-first-fix of the GPS, and the overall performance of the GPS, especially in ‘urban canyon’ or forested environments.

Deep power down

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar will enter an extremely low power state when the battery is low (below 3.5V). This maximises the potential for the battery to be charged by the solar panel. The device will do a low power wake-up every hour to check the battery status. If the battery is charged sufficiently (above 3.5V), the device will do a full wakeup and continue with normal operation

Power bands

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar must work in power constrained environment. The firmware has built in power bands to adjust the behaviour according to how much power is available. The battery capacity is divided into thirds. Different behaviour can be assigned to each third. This provides a flexible setup that maximises the usefulness under different power conditions. See the user manual for more information.

Battery protection

The Li-Po battery is sensitive to overcharging and charging out of the temperature specification. The charge rate is very low (1/16C). The device employs a shunt strategy to divert energy away from the battery when the battery should not be charged.

GPS Tracking Firmware Smarts

Emulated Ignition

Emulated Ignition allows the GPSLiVEtrack Solar to determine that a trip has started based on accelerometer and GPS data and to automatically set the ‘ignition’ input on the device to emulate the ignition line.

This means that the GPSLiVEtrack Solar can be installed with the option of not wiring in the ignition line and ‘emulating’ the ignition based on movement.

Trips are started using a configurable distance and speed threshold. Trips are ended using a configurable stationary period.

Assumed Start Point

Once an emulated ignition (movement) trip has started, the device will calculate a sensible start point. This give more accurate trip reproduction.

Wired Ignition

Use the ignition wire to start and stop trips. Accurately monitor engine run hours this way.

Run Detect

This setting allows the GPSLiVEtrack Solar to monitor the system voltage and to detect changes in the voltage that indicate if the engine is running or not.

In Trip Time Based Logging

Once the device has determined that a trip has started, GPS logging is done on a configurable time period. The period is configurable in each power band.

Periodic Only Logging

The device can be configured to ignore trips and only log on a periodic basis. For example, use this to get a GPS point every hour, regardless of movement.

Accident Detection

The GPSLiVEtrack Solar uses the built-in accelerometer to detect high G impacts such as accidents and rollovers and reports these events to the server for emergency alerting.

 

Agricultural Firmware Smarts

SDI-12 interface

Connect SDI-12 sensors using the 5V output, input 1, and ground connections.

Connect up to 10 sensors with unique configurable addresses.

SDI-12 interface is 3.3V compatible.

Rain gauge

Connect a tipping rain gauge to the ignition input. The ignition input is configurable to pull up internally.

Sensor timing

Configure the GPSLiVEtrack Solar to take readings at set intervals, aligned with the hour. For example, by default it will take SDI-12 readings every 15 min, starting on the hour.

Upload timing

Schedule uploads to suit the latency or data bill. Data is stored in the flash until it is uploaded.

GPS fix timing

Schedule GPS fixes as required. The default setting updates the device position once per day.

Telemetry

Understand the status of the GPSLiVEtrack Solar with the following recorded data: battery level, external power, temperature, GSM signal strength, and solar panel input voltage

These events are logged in the GPSLiVEtrack Essential along with additional event statistics that allow back-end server platforms to perform sophisticated driver profiling and scoring.

Accident Data

The GPSLiVEtrack Essential keeps a second-by-second “black box” recording of valuable GPS and accelerometer data for a two hour window. This data can be automatically uploaded to the server when an accident is detected, or it can be requested manually.

Driver Identification

The GPSLiVEtrack Essential supports a low-cost external RFID reader to read cards and keyfobs in order to identify drivers

Driver Lists

The GPSLiVEtrack Essential can be updated from the server with lists of Drivers that are allowed to drive the vehicle that it is installed in. When a driver or operator registers on the GPSLiVEtrack Essential it will check the Driver List to see if that person is authorised to drive the vehicle. The list also includes information about the driver such as whether they can perform supervisor functions.

The GPSLiVEtrack Essential can be installed to immobilise a vehicle and only allow authorised drivers / operators to drive it, or to annoy an unauthorised driver with a loud buzzer.

Geo-Fences

The GPSLiVEtrack Essential has the capacity to hold hundreds of geo-fences that can be downloaded to it from the server. The GPSLiVEtrack Essential can use this geo-fence information to:

  • Implement arrival and departure alerts
  • Implement speeding zones with audible warning alerts
  • Implement “No-go” and “Keep-out” areas
  • Automatically control outputs, for example to switch on warning lights when inside a special area
  • Warn drivers when approaching dangerous intersections
  • Disable data communications within intrinsically safe areas

The GPSLivetrack Battery has sufficient memory to store over 50,000 records in its flash memory. Normally the data will be sent to the server immediately but if the device is out of range then there is sufficient space to ensure that no data is lost – for many months!

The flash memory is also used to store parameters, GPS aiding data, geo-fences and other important information that needs to be securely stored.

MAGNETIC TAMPER DETECTION KIT

A magnetic tamper detection unit is available to provide alerts should the device be tampered with or removed.


The Remora is a stand-alone tracking unit and therefore does not have other peripherals available.

The GPSLivetrack Battery can also be sent text messages to setup the APN, server and other details

The GPSLivetrack Battery uses the built-in accelerometer to detect high G impacts such as accidents and drops and reports these events to the server for emergency alerting.

Geo-Fences

The GPSLivetrack Battery has the capacity to hold hundreds of geo-fences that can be downloaded to it from the server and updated Over-The-Air. The GPSLivetrack Battery can use this geo-fence information to:

Low-profile IP67 rugged housing

The IP67 rated housing is made of sturdy ABS/Polycarbonate plastic to survive bumps and knocks and to survive many years in the sun and weather.

It is low-profile making it easier to mount in the corrugation on containers or concealed on the underside of a trailer, for example.

The housing screws together for easy assembly, and has 2 convenient mounting tabs. It also has ‘strap slots’ allowing the Mini-Battery to be cable tied or metal strapped to an asset.
